Oludare Olufunwa, a 21-year-old defender currently under the books of Liverpool is set to leave as a free transfer - could Argyle be his destination?

The Greens have not been shy of signing former Liverpool youth prospects with the likes of Adam Lewis and Lloyd Jones both arrivals within the past few years, a link potentially formed since the hard-fought pair of FA Cup games

Steven Schumacher himself evidently has links with the city of Liverpool, having been born in Merseyside and played in his youth across the city for Liverpool Football Club's rivals in blue, Everton.

Olafunwa joined Liverpool last August following his departure from Southampton. Though he had very limited appearances for the Reds in the Premier League 2, he has proven that he is a comfortable centre-back, with the ability to also play on the right.

With Argyle looking to strengthen the defence following the departure of a regular, James Wilson, Olafunwa seems to be an ideal option due to his strength at the back, whilst also contributing with his calm presence on the ball.

Though he has not yet achieved his first senior appearance, a season with Argyle in the championship would be a great time to prove himself on the football stage.

Argyle are yet to announce their first signing of the summer.
